The churches at Lalibela and the Simien Mountains are both stunning destinations and for very different reasons. The Simien are spectacular – a bit like half the Grand Canyon – and with interesting wildlife.

Lalibela is extraordindary, especially around New Year, in the preparation for Orthodox Christmas.
