I brought back some of the best travel memories ever …

I decided to go on a hunch and went without any expectations or ideas what I’d signed myself up for. Much to my delight and surprise, I brought back some of the best travel memories ever about the country and its people.

Ethiopia can’t be summed up in a book, much less in a few paragraphs. All I can say from my 11 days of travel in Addis Ababba, Gondar, Lalibella and the Omo Valley is I had only a taste of a tiny portion of what Ethiopia has to offer.

I was most impressed with its rich history, unique culture, beautiful scenery and the diverse tribal peoples. The rock-hewn churches in Lalibella are awe-inspiring; the Ethiopian food is just delicious; the different peoples of the Omo Valley are so intriguing …

The whole experience was very much enhanced by the hospitality and personal touch from Eskinder and his team members. He was very responsive from when I first made an enquiry.

Based on my flight schedules, time and personal interests, he made such a well-thought-out itinerary. I was surprised to see him at the airport welcoming me at 6 a.m. All the local guides and drivers are very professional and did everything they could to make sure I had an enjoyable time. I’ve learned quite a bit from them about the history, culture and the peoples of Ethiopia.

The only thing I didn’t like about the trip was that I had too little time. I’ll definitely come back some other time to visit other regions of the country and get to know about the people better.

Ethiopia is a hidden gem and I’d recommend anyone who is interested to explore a place where it is still relatively under-promoted as a tourist destination.
