How can we ever put into words our gratitude for your assistance to us in Ethiopia?!! Even on the last airplane ride, Faye turned to me and said exactly what was on my heart. “I still find it hard to believe that I actually was in Africa!”
It is our prayer that God would somehow allow us to return the favor and have you someday visit us in Canada. We wouldn’t be doing coffee ceremonies with you, but if you came in summer we would certainly host a few barbeque suppers, which is the closest Canadian tradition I can think of in comparison.
God was gracious to keep us healthy and safe during our journey. The few stomach upsets and insect bites were minor in comparison to the amazing experience of seeing so much beauty and making many new friends.

Bahirdar as its name implies, is a beautiful city siding Ethiopia’s largest lake ‘Lake Tana’. It is dotted with islands that house many medieval monasteries.
The Blue Nile Falls 30 km from the lake is spectacular and its showers can be felt many kilometers away. Gondar and Simien Mountains are the next exotic vacation spots to Bahirdar. The medieval city Gondar is famous and a breathtaking site for its Royal enclosure, castles, and churches.
North of the city, other spectacular and exotic vacation spots are the Simien Mountains. According to the ancient philosopher Homer, ‘they were the play ground of the Greek gods, who came here to play chess’. In fact they are the most marvelous of all Ethiopian landscapes.
The exotic vacation spots of the northern historic route end with the marvelous rock hewn churches of Tigray, Axum Stelae, Yeha, Debre-Damo, and rock hewn churches of Lalibela.
